Subject: “Greek Women in Science” 

The students were interested in investigating the opinions of their peers for the role and the position of Greek women in Science. They made questionnaires, distributed among their peers, and processed them. The results were surprising. Contrary to common belief, our students answered that women are capable in all scientific fields, Humanities and Science. Women can succeed equally well as men in Science. Moreover, they can even lead a research team. Gender does not play any role when taking a decision to trust a lawyer or a physician. The students feel that the lower percentage of women's participation in Science is due to social rather than biological reasons. Those results are very inspiring because of two main reasons: first of all only the 46,5% had a women scientist in their family and secondly the 57,6% of the sample were men.

Subject: Investigation of the relations of sexes through traditional folk dances.

A group of 15 students participate in this program. They get acquainted with our cultural heritage and learn traditional folk dances. The last day of school, they will dance at the farewell event.

In the photos from the rehearsals, they dance Kalamatianos, Kavodoritikos and Berati.

In the local newspaper  «Η πόλη μας»  (“Our city”), an article was written about the participation of our school in the Comenius project “Different but Equal in Europe”. There was an extensive report on our trip to Vilnius in Lithuania.

Visit: Cultural Museum of Aigaleo

Within the scope of the early 20^th century history taught in the last year of Lyceum, our students visited the historical and Folklore Museum of Aigaleo, where relics, coins, linen, costumes, books, documents, photographs and handy objects of the refugees from different areas of Asia Minor are kept and shown.

The guide informed the students about the history of Asia Minor, the way of living of Greek people, who were violently forced to leave their native land after the Asia Minor disaster.

Speaking of those people, reference was made to the important role of women in the family and social life of their time. Belonging to the middle class and having a cultivated mind they greatly influence the taking of decisions concerning family matters.
